Thunderstruck By Progress ⚡

January 16th, 2026

Good morning, happy Friday. Matt here, with some electrifying industry updates.

Top updates include AIOZ Network’s distributed computing solutions featured in MIT Technology Review and TechCrunch, while ANyONe Protocol’s MiCA whitepaper being notified by the Central Bank of Ireland.

XMAQUINA hit $10M in total raised, and Silencio reported over 1.2 million new recordings since January 1st.

We’re three weeks into the year, and DePIN is already setting new records.

🤝 Partnership Power

If you want to go fast, you can go alone. But if you really want to go far, you should go together. Case in point:

🤝 Acurast x Massive - Residential Bandwidth for Enterprise AI
🤝 Theta Network x Imperial College London - AI Security Research on EdgeCloud
🤝 World Mobile x OOKC Labs - Middle East & China Expansion
 🔌 Filecoin x Portrait - Micro sites

One of the coolest examples of DePIN collaboration we’ve seen recently is Dabba Networks’ cross-platform gamification. Just by getting involved with other platforms, you can earn additional rewards via their Loot Box partner program.

Remember: teamwork makes the dream work, and Dabba hitting a new ATH in daily bandwidth while announcing on-chain, verifiable tracking tools for users sorta proves that point.

🗺️ I’m the Matt Map

Someone call Dora, because we have maps.

Hivemapper opened its Burst API to the public, allowing users to build and download localized data for projects, while Helium consolidated its mobile plans and updated its community call format.

Wingbits also showed the power of distributed networks when it detected an aircraft emergency over the Hawaiian Islands via its aircraft-monitoring network. Thankfully, the aircraft made it safely back to Honolulu.

WeatherXM has also been a busy beaver, selling out their beaver NFTs and raising $81k for remote weather stations in the process.

💻 Electrifying New Releases

Tons of new launches this week, with DoubleZero launching a grants program, Render releasing an update, NodeOps shipping some new software.

CUDOS reached a 15+ billion token milestone after a UI update, while Io.net released a new model, and Filecoin did some merging to streamline storage processes. Flux, meanwhile, has opened early testing as Ar.io is assisting Tusky users with migration after the latter’s recent shutdown.

But wait, there’s even more, with Acurast launching its Rebel ID Card, PinLink AI opening Monero mining infrastructure, and Quex launching on 0G mainnet.

If that’s not enough to get you excited, then one, you need to reset your adrenals, and two, here’s some incentive and updates to get you over the edge:

👋 See You Next Time!

That’s all for this week. Make sure to follow Matt, Will, and the Digest on X for the latest DePIN news and updates.

Until next time!
